  33.                    PACKET MONITORING WITHOUT A TNC OR MODEM
  34.                    USING FREEWARE AND A UA741 OP-AMP (COMPUTER POWERED)

  36. For those of us not yet ready to invest in a TNC, Baycom, or PMP modem, there
  37. is a way to monitor packet using only the VHF receiver and a computer with
  38. a UA741 op-amp at the mouse port. It's called PKTMON12. The program is avail-
  39. able from ftp.funet.fi, listed as PKTMON12.LZH. I'll convert it to a ZIP and
  40. upload it to DRIG BBS this weekend.

  42. This program works great and is FREE. The op-amp interface circuit is shown
  43. in the documentation of JVFAX6.0, HFFax, and HamCom30. Just connect the
  44. 741 input to the receiver speaker leads and start copying packet (1200 Baud.)
  45. The system also will decode HF packet although I haven't tried it yet.

  62. I've got a Satelline-1AS Radio Data Modem here on my desk.
  63. This is not a Hayes compatible thing. It does half-duplex
  64. communications. By switching DTR on on the RS232-port, the
  65. Radio Modem is powered on. (signalled via DSR). When CD is
  66. switched on, there is something to receive. To send something
  67. switch on RTS and wait for CTS. This can take a while because
  68. it's possible that the radio channel isn't free yet.

  70. This Radio Modem is from a Finnish company and is also known
  71. by the name MOBIDEM. Does anyone has a piece of software to test
  72. this thing out, before the application for this thing is written?
